What are your consultation fees?

Bayleaf Wellness is a Private Billing Integrative Medical practice and reviews its fees annually.

As highly trained professionals, medical practitioners and allied clinicians are free to place their own value on their professional skills and expertise and determine what they consider to be fair and reasonable for the services that they provide.

The Competition and Consumer Act 2010 requires medical practitioners to set their fees independent of other medical practitioners, unless otherwise authorised by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

The individual clinician considers their own practice costs and the cost of running a medical practice including practitioner registration, continuing professional development and professional indemnity insurance.

Medical practitioners are under no obligation to charge fees that are equal to the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) fee set by the Government or the schedules of medical benefits set by private health insurers (private schedules).

Do you bulk bill?

We do not bulk bill clinician consultations as the costs of running the Practice in the way that we do would not be covered by the Medicare bulk billing fee. Unlike the Australian Medical Association’s fees which increase by a level in line with CPI the Medicare rebate has been frozen for several years and is planned to be frozen at the current level for 5 more years.

There is no Medicare rebate for our Integrative GP however our fees are in line with out of pocket consultation costs within the industry.

Are all of my tests and consultations covered by Medicare?

As an Integrative Medical practice, Bayleaf Wellness clinicians often refer the individual for tests that may not be available via the MBS.

These tests are often functionally based and are not covered by Medicare therefore will need to be paid for at the time of the testing at the individual’s own expense.

Functional medicine testing is clinician led and looks at the root cause of your health issue to assess disease risk and identify sub-clinical health problems long before they manifest as diseases. Pathology testing that is covered via the MBS will be covered.

When do I pay for my consultation?

As an Integrative Medical practice, Bayleaf Wellness clinicians often refer the individual for tests that may not be available via the MBS.

These tests are often functionally based and are not covered by Medicare therefore will need to be paid for at the time of the testing at the individual’s own expense.

Functional medicine testing is clinician led and looks at the root cause of your health issue to assess disease risk and identify sub-clinical health problems long before they manifest as diseases.

Clinicians also assess genetic and lifestyle factors to find the best way to treat the root of persistent symptoms. From nutrition to exercise, stress management to supplements.

It is the policy of Bayleaf Wellness that payment for consultation is made on the day. Fees may be paid by EFTPOS or Credit Card.

In addition to the consultation, further cost may be incurred through investigations, procedures, treatments, or specialist consultations.  Your clinician will advise you of these costs at the time of your consultation.
